Can you change your Gmail account name without losing your data?

Yes, it is possible, old data would be there even during changing Gmail account name.

For moment, I thought that It is a fake news but it turn out to be real after reading the latest update on Google Account Help support page.

Change the email address for your account

This new Gmail feature will be tested not on every account but limited number of accounts to check performance.

But there will be drawback for those aspirants who wish to change their Gmail account name without losing their data, they can only change three times in a year.

When this new Gmail account feature will be rolled out? Date still has not been announced by Google.
